Monday, April 28 (B) AND Tuesday, April 29 (C)


Objective: E/LA 9.R.9: By the end of grade 9, read and comprehend Literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 9-10 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range. 

Today's plan:
  1. Pass out the Chapter 16 “packet” - journal prompt + reading guide - to students. Give 10 minutes for students to write the journal prompt. After 10 minutes, tell them to stop, put 3 dots, and then proofread/edit. After 4 minutes, tell students to trade their journal prompt with a peer and read it and circle any mistakes. Give 4 minutes for this. Then let the pairs talk for 3 minutes about what they wrote while you walk around and listen/keep kids on task.
  2. Students will read independently Chapter 16 in class, complete the reading guide in complete sentences, and then turn at the end of class.
  3. If students finish early, they may go back and read a chapter they skipped.
