1. Turn to page 172 in your SpringBoard.
2. Let's read this page together so we know what we're doing when we watch segment 51:45-1:17 of Edward Scissorhands; remember, we watch with a purpose in mind, which is to answer the Essential Question How do cinematic techniques serve to retell a story?
3. After we watch, you will work with a partner on the Discussion Questions and Jigsaw.
4. We'll do a Close Reading of one scene: 1:03:50-1:06:29: Let's turn in your spiral to your Cool Words section to make sure we have a definition of Close Reading.
5. On your own, you will complete page 173 (on a separate handout so you can turn it in to me); however, you may consult with your partner while you are writing.
6. If you finish your Analytical Statement before your peers do, you may SSR (and nothing else).
