Day 18 Periods 2 & 6 Friday, 9/6 and Periods 1, 4, & 5 Monday, 9/9

Objective: 1.  To identify aspects of voice in an interview narrative, to recognize the effect of direct and indirect in quotations in conveying voice, to review punctuation of quotations and 2.  Use punctuation (commas, parentheses, dashes) to set off nonrestrictive/parenthetical elements (L.6.2a.)

  1. Activity 1.13: Reading an Interview Narrative - See SpringBoard, pages 51-54.
  2. Complete page 51 in SpringBoard
  3. Note the directions in the last paragraph: You should have 2 highlighters while you are reading. Highlight direct quotes in one color and indirect quotes in another color.
  4. Use your Elements of Voice card as you read. Lost yours? I've got you covered.
  5. SSR if finished early.
  6. Grammar & Usage: Nonrestrictive and restrictive phrases - Add to Writer's Craft in spiral.
